For the April edition of the Modern Wing’s monthly After Dark party, the Art Institute did me a solid by actually opening after dark. I think the time change gave everybody a good chance to freshen up and/or pregame before the show and came in with a great energy looking better than ever. British wonky pop artist Dan Black started the night off with a DJ set, before headlining a sold-out show at Schubas, that will be his last in town before his set at Lollapalooza this summer. Collaboraction came in with a giant, inflatable orb they bounced around as cut-up visuals from movies, music videos, and the party itself were projected onto it. Midnight Conspiracy and White Label’s DJ Madrid bookended the show, with killer sets of electro and house, respectively.
