Resonate 5.0 proved that a real rave could happen in the Congress Theater. Now that the cat’s out of the bag, I look forward to seeing a lot more spectacle in that space (perhaps with less wallet-rapey prices on beer and water, but that’s a minor quibble). Resonate didn’t have a giant rocketship or a dirt floor like last year, but it did have a magical glowing forest, an interstellar (and also glowing) lunar lounge, a tea hut/geodesic dome, giant mushrooms, aerial art, burlesque, several rooms full of djs and vjs, and all sorts of interactive art. Environmental Encroachment closed down the night with one of the most commanding, sonically impressive sets I’ve heard from them ever.
