Bomb Shelter

The End of the World Dance Party just threw its second event over at the British Embassy. Clique Talk and BFF played live sets, and Chrissy Murderbot joined residents DJ Demchuk and British Knights on the decks. We dished out over a dozen bottles of Bacardi in less than two hours in a make-your-own mojito bar, and your typically atypical rager ensued. There were a couple cat fights on the porch, a guy fell through one of the windows, and every sort of Chicagoan showed up to carve out their own personal little party.
On one side of the room some sleazo was trying to unload a bag of meth, on another, someone was having a conversation about how seeing an orchestra perform the works of Phillip Glass and Steve Reich had brought him damn near to tears, while elsewhere in the room Clique Talk’s Brian Other was climbing a speaker with a toy megaphone, BFF’s Elisa Harkins was running around the room in a leotard and a neon feathered headress; some people were tossing a beach ball back and forth across the dance floor, and a cypher broke out in the kitchen. It was a million shades of innocent and debauched all overlapping and intersecting. It was everything I like about a house party. Hot, sweaty, dirty and loud. Chicago is the best city in the world.
The backdrop here was created by Elisa Harkins, check out some of her work at www.pooptronica.com
