Burnout at Lumen Chicago

Posted on April 1st, 2009 by admin

Much to the chagrin of my old open mic homies (shout out to Rogers Park and the In One Ear!), there’s finally a worthwhile dance party on Wednesday.

I’m not sure if Lumen’s slumming it with their new weekly jam, or if they’re trying to bring a little glamour to the dirty hipster set, but I think they’ve found a good common ground. It’s another one of those kitchen sink dance parties, that pulls the best out of hip hop, electro, and mash up cats for a club night replete with lazers, LED lights, and drink specials that are actually on the level.

For tonight’s show, DJs Willy Joy and Team Bayside High had people piled up in the center of the room juking on each other.

I asked my Facebook people if there was a term that meant the opposite of slumming it. One of my friends said it was hedge funding; another said that it is and was the textbook definition of ghetto fabulous. Either way, I’m hyped about the show, and Glitterguts is gonna be there every week in April, so make sure you come through and get some shots done.

Don’t forget to come back next week for Kid Color and Black Holes!
