Delorean Nites with Afrobeta

Here are the pictures from what as been my favorite Delorean Nites yet. Their Anti-Valentines Day (aka Fuck VD: live!) was just firing on all cylinders. Gemini Club just keeps getting better and tighter every time I see them, Perfect Kiss was playing some slower stuff than I’m used to in their dj set, not new wave like you might expect, but a little more towards moombahton, just hard, slow dance music, and then Afrobeta just blew me away, partly because their sound was so un-Chicago (and also so un-2007 which is what so many of the headliner DJs I see roll through town sound like). There were electro elements but I wouldn’t call them electro, and then there was nothing juke-y or house-y about it, they definitely showed their roots with a little bit of Miami Bass, which we never get down here, and a little bit of mutant disco, and then it was just a lot of fun high energy synth music. I feel like I don’t have the proper vocabulary to describe what they were doing, which I just fucking loved. Closing out the night were residents Midnight Conspiracy, who are just becoming straight up rockstars in this city. A part of me was rolling my eyes whenever some giggling 17 year olds would come up and ask if I knew when Midnight Conspiracy was going on, and a part of me was just completely proud and elated.
