Lollapalooza announcement at Rehab

Nothing beats celebrating local boys and girls and folx done good (with a drunken dance party). This week’s Rehab featured six local acts that will be playing this year’s Lollapalooza: Dark Wave Disco, Hey Champ, Hollywood Holt, Moneypenny, Yello Fever, and He Say, She Say who threw down a blistering short set on top of the bar.
This party also served to announce the full lineup for the fest. I was gonna give out the early scoop here, but a couple dozen drunken twitterers did it for me before I left the bar. No need to put up the whole list, but here’s some of the people who we’re really excited to see….
TOOL – one of the most influential bands of my young life, plus some of the best stadium shows I’ve ever seen (and I hate stadium shows!) Also…if you’re into this sort of thing… try synching up AEnima with the VHS version of Disney’s Fantasia. It’ll blow your mind.
DAN DEACON – I’ve seen him rip apart so many underground parties. When he played a secret show at Reversible Eye a couple years ago, we BROKE THE FLOOR DANCING!

I don’t usually get excited for this sort of thing, but I do like getting caught up in emotion with large groups of people (elections, playoff games, etc….makes me feel human) and it was fucking cool to watch an animated announcement play across all the tvs at Evil Olive and ooh and ahhh with a bunch of music lovers.
