Lollapalooza Day One

Day One of Lollapalooza was awesome. Not the part where we were drenched by a downpour that could be described, with only a little bit of exaggeration, as biblical, but just about everything else. We had a classic set by Depeche Mode, a crazy dance set by Crystal Castles, the loudest sitar jam I’ve ever heard courtesy of Thievery Corporation, and our friends BBU taking the stage with Hollywood Holt for to blast through their anthemic “Chi Don’t Dance”. The day started for us wayyyyy early, as local boys Hey Champ took the stage. A lot of water, a lot of noise, and a lot of booze followed. I think my favorite visual moment of the day was when I passed through a baseball diamond near the Chicago 2016 stage to see that some people had painstakingly sculpted the great pyramids of Giza in the wet dirt and sand, complete with a miniature, Budweiser-swilling, cigarette-smoking Party Sphinx.
Here are some of our favorite pictures from the day. The backdrop was designed by Menace from Novem Studios, who was on hand to dish out a bunch of free Novem Gear. If you’re going to Lollapalooza for Day(s) Two or Three, we’ll be set up in the same spot in the Lolla Lounge South. Come out. Say hi. Take some pictures.
If you’re looking at this site with your kids, you might want to preview any other galleries if you decide to look at them. We photograph a wide variety of events and not all of our pictures are appropriate for young eyes.
