GlitterGuts Glitter! Guts! Photobooths!

Out of Order with Glass Candy

Does anyone want to make us a sign? Something that says something like “photobooth” and “free” and maybe “glitterguts” on it? I hate that people think that we would be charging and I hate even more that people don’t always know we’re there.

Chicago’s Darkroom, appropriately enough, has a great spot for shooting photos. The only problem is that, in making a room that could double as a VIP lounge, a chill room, or a space for installation art, that doesn’t interfere with the experience of the show on stage, it can be kind of tucked away, and looking like something private or exclusive.

In a lot of ways, GlitterGuts is on some hippie shit. We’re all about consent. Taking photos of people for people and not at them, so I feel weird advertising it like some sort of carnival barker, but then sometimes people don’t know we exist. C’est la vie.

This was a pretty badass show. Glass Candy’s songs don’t always give you the impression that they’re having a good time, nor do their pictures where they’re all too cool for school and sexy as fuck, which makes it all the better when they’re out there having a blast, ripping through their extensive collection of covers, and digging into a decidedly un-electro song like, say, “Iko Iko.”

DJs Trancid, Intel, and Total M rounded out the bill for what turned out to be a kind of posh, kind of raucous evening, which doesn’t happen enough.

Here are some of our favorite shots. The link to the rest of the pictures is at the bottom of this page.

Hearts and fuzzies go out to Mars from Myour House for being my lovely assistant for the night.
