Pride at Berlin with Lady Miss Kier
Posted on June 28th, 2009 by admin
We had the unique opportunity to do a photobooth at Berlin (one of Chicago’s oldest and hippest gay clubs) right after the 2009 Pride Parade. Conservative estimates say that over half a million people flooded Boystown to celebrate, so of course this is just a teeeeeeeeny tiny little bit of the crowd, but we were able to photograph a pretty decent cross section.
Most of the people who came out (no pun) were there to see the lovely Lady Miss Kier, formerly of the groundbreaking 90s group Deee-Lite, who belted out a few songs on top of a dj set that bounded from nu- to classic rave anthems, with a fair bit of electro thrown in.
DJs Butch Cassidy, The Lady Speedstick, Lady Miss Navy Pier, Nina Ramone, and John Twatters (from the excellent Chances and Stardust parties) kept the crowd jumping right up until Sunday resident Greg Haus took over for the late crowd.
